The Environmental Strategic Department leads, supports, and coordinates work on environmental and climate-related issues for a sustainable Malmö. Climate Transition Malmö is the city of Malmö's effort to mobilize public services, businesses, academia, associations, and Malmö residents to accelerate the pace of climate transition.

We are now looking for an engaged and driven employee for the team working on energy issues. In this area, we work from a systems perspective to contribute to the development of future energy systems in Malmö. A sustainable and reliable electricity supply at reasonable and predictable prices is crucial for Malmö residents and businesses to live and operate in Malmö, while also meeting the increased demand for renewable energy due to climate transition. Together with other actors at local, regional, and national levels, Malmö is working to find ways forward and strengthen innovation capacity to secure the region's energy supply both in the short and long term.

The assignment mainly involves work on the implementation of the electricity supply roadmap and Malmö city's energy strategy, as well as supporting efforts to ensure a long-term energy supply. The work also includes project management and project administration related to energy and climate-related projects. Monitoring the external environment, drafting service letters, handling referrals, and other correspondence within the energy sector are also part of the position.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with an academic education equivalent to at least 180 credits in fields such as engineering or natural sciences, or equivalent knowledge and skills acquired through experience that we consider comparable.

You have several years of experience in strategic work with energy and climate issues. You have a very good ability to communicate in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.

Experience from politically governed organizations and experience with externally funded projects, preferably in the energy sector, is an advantage.

About the Workplace

The Environmental Strategic Department drives and coordinates Malmö city's long-term environmental and climate work. The department coordinates the work with Malmö city's environmental program and is responsible for environmental monitoring of air, water, and nature. We are pushing for climate transition, and together we work to make Malmö a greener city prepared for a changing climate. By monitoring environmental law issues in urban development, we prevent health and environmental problems for people, nature, and society. Approximately 50 dedicated employees work in the department across four units: climate and energy, environment and nature, environmental monitoring and analysis, and the program unit, which focuses on external funding.

The Environmental Administration leads and coordinates Malmö city's climate and environmental work. Through supervision and control according to environmental law and food law, we work for a safe environment that is not harmful to human health. We safeguard environmental interests in urban planning, are responsible for the municipality's energy and climate advice, and work with Fairtrade City. Through supervision, advice, and strategic environmental work, we strive for Malmö to become a sustainable city.
